Homily for Sunday 7th Sunday in Ordinary time
First reading:1 Sam 26: 2, 7-9,12-13,22-23: Second reading: 1Cor 15:45-49; Gospel: Luke 6:27-38
Love your enemies
It is human nature and inclination to pay evil for another. Most children are taught from their early years of development to revenge when wronged. It is even more pronounced where people do good to those that do them good. It feels more natural to do so because of the immediate feeling of reciprocity.
However, Christ is teaching us a more human teaching. He says we do good to those that wrong us, we forgive those that plan evil about us.
This is the teaching about love fashioned on the love of God who shows mercy on all humanity in spite of all the failings.
We are all invited to embrace the love of Christ and share it with all people regardless.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
